I read Rebecca earlier this year, and loved it, which led me to pick up My Cousin Rachel. For twenty four years, Daphne Du Maurier has eluded me, and I'm still trying to figure out how! This brings me to My Cousin Rachel, a book du Maurier published in 1951–13 years after Rebecca. It is one of those Doubleday editions that all homes had in the 50s and 60s. In the case of My Cousin Rachel, set during the 1800s, the main character, Phillip is the narrator. "My Cousin Rachel" Daphne du Maurier. But I'll keep a look out for My Cousin Rachel too, thanks for the recommendation. Based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier, "My cousin Rachel" (1952) was directed by Henry Koster and stars Olivia de Havilland and Richard Burton. There's also an excellent film version of this book, but as I write this post, the film is OOP. You're the second to mention My Cousin Rachel, I really must buy it. Reply My favourite du Maurier is My Cousin Rachel though ;). Although you could probably make an argument that My Cousin Rachel is packed with characters who tend to have narcissistic (good God, what a word to spell) qualities, I am not going to go down that alley with this critique.
